The Altrec.com Web site launched in March 1999 with the belief that spending time outside - whether climbing a mountain or taking a quiet hike - helps us to live a healthy, balanced life.
Like many good ideas, Altrec.com began with old friendships, chance meetings and what would become a shared vision to help people get outside through the Internet. A team of six shaped Altrec.com’s original vision: Mike Morford, Blaine Donnelson, Jerry Lessard, Shannon Stowell, Debbie Steinberg and Don Pickering. These “co-founders” brought various areas of expertise including Web design and development, consulting, business management and importing and exporting of outdoor gear to create this outdoor lifestyle destination website.
